The Queenship of the Blessed Virgin Mary

August 22nd

Pope Pius XII established this feast in 1954. But Mary’s queenship has roots in Scripture.  At the Annunciation, Gabriel announced that Mary’s Son would receive the throne of David and rule forever. At the Visitation, Elizabeth calls Mary “mother of my Lord.”  As in all the mysteries of Mary’s life, she is closely associated with Jesus: Her queenship is a share in Jesus’ kingship. uServe 2023 Summer camp.

uServe 2023 was awesome! The theme for the camp this year was “Extraordinary” and we learned about some of the extraordinary aspects of our faith and how we can experience the miraculous in our everyday lives. We served at Chester Area Senior Housing, the Sister of Jesus our Hope, Clinton Community Garden, Grow-A-Row, and the Flemington Food Pantry! The teens absolutely crushed the service and embraced each day with joyful energy. Needless to say, we had an Extraordinary week! (Read more…)

Transfiguration of the Lord – August 6th

Today, we celebrated the feast of The Transfiguration of the Lord. All three Synoptic Gospels tell the story of the Transfiguration (Matthew 17:1-8; Mark 9:2-9; Luke 9:28-36). With remarkable agreement, all three place the event shortly after Peter’s confession of faith that Jesus is the Messiah and Jesus’ first prediction of his passion and death. Peter’s eagerness to erect tents or booths on the spot suggests it occurred during the week-long Jewish Feast of Booths in the fall. (Read more…)
