Our Altar Servers

This Sunday, during the 9:30 Mass, we will be installing our New Altar Servers: Nolan Aiello, Finnlay Byelick, Grayson Byelick, Claire Connolly, Jason Dagnall, Bodhi Manatch, Ella Sanderson, Mikaila Sanderson and blessing all our Altar Servers: Emma Gonzalez, Dan Kieran, Peter Molochnick, John Molochnick, Elynn  Perez, Easton Perez, Lyla Schaefer, Michael Sniscak, Kerin Wojtal. I am genuinely impressed and heartily appreciative of the love, service and devotion each one of them brings to Liturgy and our Parish life.

I’d like to share a brief reflection from St. Pope John Paul II on this special ministry: “Dear Altar Servers your commitment to the altar is not only a duty but a great honor, a true holy service. The altar server has a privileged place in liturgical celebrations. Those who serve at Mass experience from close at hand that Jesus Christ is present and active in every liturgy.

Therefore, in the liturgy you are far more than mere “helpers of the priest”. Above all, you are servants of Jesus Christ. Thus, you altar servers especially are called to be young friends of Jesus. Strive to deepen and foster this friendship with him. You will discover that in Jesus you have found a true friend for life. 

How happy I would be if something more sprang from this friendship with Jesus! How beautiful it would be if some of you could discover a vocation to the priesthood! Jesus Christ urgently needs young people who generously make themselves available to him without reserve. 

Furthermore, maybe the Lord will also call some of you girls to embrace the consecrated life in order to serve the Church and the brethren? Also, for those who would like to be united in marriage, an altar server’s service teaches that an authentic union must always include readiness for reciprocal and gratuitous service.” -Pope John Paul II, 2001.
