The Holy Trinity

We might have thought that before God created the angels and before he created the people on this planet, He must have been alone out there somewhere.  But when God sent His Son to save us, we learned that God was never alone.  He was always a family, a sharing community of three – Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The three Persons in God are so united in love and submission to one another that the three act as one, always in perfect harmony.  (Read more…)

Confirmation

On May 16th & 23rd 2021, thirty-five young people of our Parish Family celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation at St. Catherine of Siena Church.  It was an uplifting celebration not only for the Confirmandi and their families but also for us who received this sacrament many years ago.

Special thanks to Mrs. Elizabeth Knipe for facilitating the Confirmation program and to our eighth grade catechists – Lori Young and James Kieran. I am very grateful for their work and selfless efforts to prepare these young people for the Sacrament of Confirmation over a series of weeks. (Read more…)

First Holy Communion

A total of twenty-one of our children have received their first Holy Communion during masses held on Saturday, May 8th and 15th. They will receive Jesus Christ our Savior the first time. There is no doubt that meeting with Jesus in First Holy Communion is an unforgettable moment, a day to be remembered as one of life’s most beautiful. It is a day of great family celebration.

This is a special and happy day for their parents too.  (Read more…)

Ascension Thursday

Next Sunday, May 16th, we celebrate the Feast of the Ascension of the Lord, commemorating that day when Jesus was taken up to heaven, to the glory of his Father. As you remember in New Jersey we always celebrated that Feast on Thursday — 40 days after Jesus rose from the dead and 10 days before the Feast of the Pentecost. But this year the bishops of New Jersey transferred the Feast of the Ascension from Thursday, May 13th to Sunday, May 16th. (Read more…)

Mother’s Day

Next Sunday, May 9th, we celebrate Mother’s Day and we honor our moms for all they do for us and for the sacrifices they make for us. They do many ordinary things and do them extraordinarily well.  Primarily through their teaching and their example, they assist in an important way, in passing down our precious faith to our children.

When we think of mothers, we only have to think of Mary, the mother of Jesus. May is the month of Mary, and this month we honor her in a special way. (Read more…)

Feast Day of St. Catherine of Siena

Thursday, April 29, 2021

“For perfected souls every place is to them an oratory, every moment a time for prayer. Their conversation has ascended from earth to heaven—that is to say they have cut themselves off from every form of earthly affection and sensual self-love and have risen alone into the very height of Heaven.”  St. Catherine of Siena

On Thursday, April 29, 2021, we celebrate the Feast Day of St. Catherine of Siena.

Born in 1347, Saint Catherine was the youngest of 25 children. (Read more…)
