Liturgical Ministries

Liturgical Ministries allow lay Catholics to participate in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass in a service capacity. Sunday liturgy is the center of our parish life and a great way to live our faith.

Altar Servers

Altar servers assist at mass and other liturgical celebrations. After receiving the Sacrament of First Eucharist, boys and girls are eligible to participate in this ministry. Adults are also welcome to participate as altar servers and are especially appreciated during weekday Masses. Training sessions are available for interested participants. Schedules can be made to accommodate family Mass time preferences. This is a great way for young people to take an active role in our parish community.

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are chosen from the parish community and receive a mandate from the diocese to distribute Holy Communion at Mass. In addition, they minister to the sick and homebound through visits to local hospitals and homes as a way to bring Christ and the support of the parish to those who might otherwise feel separated from the parish community.

Music

  • Adult Choir: The Adult Choir leads the congregation in song at selected Sunday Masses as well as at key liturgical and sacramental services throughout the year.
  • Youth Choir: The Youth Choir is comprised of third to eighth grade students who offer their talents in praise to God. The Youth Choir sings at special children's liturgies throughout the year.
  • Instrumentalists: Instrumentalists add to the beauty and enhance the solemnity of our worship on special Masses and other religious celebrations. Parishioners with musical talent are encouraged to become part of this ministry.

Lectors

Lectors proclaim the Word of God during Sunday Liturgy and other liturgical celebrations. Participation as a lector requires a brief training session and practice prior to each reading assignment. Service as lector is open to all adult members and high school-age youth of the parish community.

Sacristan

The Sacristans maintain the altar and the sacristy and prepare for liturgical celebrations.

Ushers

Ushers' duties involve greeting, seating, collection of contributions and selecting parishioners to take up offertory gifts, and in distribution of the weekly bulletin following Masses.

Ministering to the Homebound

In addition to arranging the administration of Holy Eucharist, our parish offers liturgical readings to the sick and homebound through "The Word of God Project," an Eagle Scout Service Project performed by one of our Boy Scout parishioners. Liturgical readings, recorded by local Scouts, are available on this website and through the loan of CDs and players. Please contact the parish office if you would like to participate.
